The Farm
Cleave farm is a traditional small working family farm in the heart of East Devon, in the Blackdown Hills National Landscape. The farm has a long history, it is in the doomsday book and we have many historical buildings, some of which are 500 years old. The farm currently consists of 60 milking cows, 30 pigs and we are open to schools and other groups to visit. Unfortunately over the last 50 years the number of small farms has fallen dramatically with a push for cheaper food leading to ever larger sized holdings. We supply the local community with nutritious milk and meat produced in a sustainable and ethical way. We put a lot of effort into enhancing our natural environment through improving our soils and habitat restoration and increasing biodiversity on the farm. Our farming is regenerative and circular, at each stage we are trying to improve our environment, adding back what we take off the land to produce food.
