Our Environment
Regenerative farming is at the heart of what we do at Cleave Farm. We believe that rather than trying to merely minimise the impact farming has on our environment our low impact, circular farming can actually have a positive impact, improving biodiversity and storing carbon through sequestration. We leave our hedges to grow wide and high giving a variety of different habitats on the farm, we have planted hundreds of meters of new hedgerow, created a new apple orchard with a mixture of traditional Devon varieties and incorporated wildflower seed mixes and herbal leys into our grazing fields to improve soil structure and biodiversity. The picture on the right is an ancient wildflower meadow which is managed to enable the grasses to set seed, in the summer months it is teeming with butterflys and other insects, which in turn encourages birds and larger animals to thrive also.
